Hello! And welcome to CNET's live blog of LG's CES press conference!
Welcome to the LG press conference, indeed. Along with Casey, I'll help be your guide to all things good in life, or at least lucky in goldstar.
We're here live in the third row, along with a full CNET crew.
David Katzmaier and Casey Newton will bring you all the news at it comes with Sarah Tew delivering the photos.
On stage in front of us to the left is a beautiful 55-inch OLED TV. Looks like a different industrial design from last year's.
LG traditionally kicks off the CES press day with this early 8:00am show.
And over on the right, there is what appears to be a washing machine and dryer. Looking forward to hearing more about those!
To the right, in true "we make everything" fashion, is an LG washer dryer set. I have no idea how it relates to last year's models, but it does have a lot of stainless steel.
LG starts this event early every year as a test of journalists' loyalty to the consumer electronics industry.
Above the stage is what looks like a new tagline: "Touch the Smart Life." I'm not kidding.
Keep it mind that it is still illegal to Touch the Smart Life in some states.
Noah: The show starts 8am PT so 10am CT
Those do look like huge touch screens above the washing machine. I dunno, dials work fine.
Anywho, in case anybody was enjoying their Christmas breaks and missed LG's earlier announcements, here they are.
Yes, that's pretty much every TV in that post. I expect them to have a couple of surprises though.
The room is quickly filling up. It's jam-packed with journalists. Some indie rock is playing softly in the background.
As we wait to begin, Katz and I will be showing you some news that LG has already announced.
LG has pre-announced lots of stuff from this year's show. The posts at the top of this blog will tell you what we know so far.
That projector was one of my favorite things I saw beforehand. Short throw, very bright, cool technology with a 100-inch screen.
The lights are starting to dim here in the conference room at Mandalay Bay.
Loud techno music now playing. Resisting urge to dance.
New 3D TV: yes. Many. Check out the entire lineup post.
As we kick things off, Casey and Katz will take over. So get ready!
LG's John Taylor comes out on the stage to kick off the show.
One thing to note this year: no full-array local dimmer (announced yet).
I was not given a seat belt.
We have been instructed to fasten our seatbelts. This must be one hell of a washer / dryer combo.
Video package now playing showing off a range of LG products.
