  • do you think that the microsoft surface will get market from the ipad? do you think that it will be the next in line after the ipad?, i think the release of surface have made apple going out with his new stuff earlier than expected

  • I'm probably not as informed as the majority, but is it possible that the ipad mini will have a 16:9 display?
They did the move with the ipod touch and it is much better for watching movies and could distinct it a lot more from the ipad. Thanks guys!

  • i would happily buy a iPad mini, but also as usual apple has brought down the apple store for an update, to me that says iPad mini! :)
    by BDixon
  • I bought the nexus 7 about a month ago, do you guys thinks i should pick up the ipad mini with the information we have now? (im very into the apple ecosystem)
    by Nick Smith
  • I like this panel. I would be excited about the return of Buzz Out Loud :( (sorry, rip van-a-few-months-ago)

  • Will this beat the Microsoft Surface in terms of specs? A keyboard would be a big seller.

  • Those wondering about the venue, the California Theater comes with a great deal of history. From Wikipedia: "Opened in 1927 as the Fox California Theatre (originally with 1,848 seats), this movie palace was said to be the finest theater in California. For nearly 50 years the theatre showed films, until its closure in 1973. It was left vacant and dilapidated for many years, but reopened in 2004 after a $75 million dollar restoration project."

  • WOuld like to see a Mini for the home which is a central unit for all media and it updates and re-start on its own - I use Mini for a all house sound system with 6 apple tv - express

  • This over-hyped event is more for obsessive fanboys, and loyal uncritical embedded tech commentators who receive exclusive invites, rather than normal people.

Today Apple will use the fanboy factor to try and push Mac which after all these years still has only a puny market share — because most consumers evidently know they consistently get much more for their money by not choosing Apple.

iPad Mini is little more than an iPod Touch with a slightly bigger screen. How much more money can Apple extract from people with variations of iOS? iOS is old news.

  • If they don't set a price lower than $300.00 then you may find a lot of people giving it a miss and just go for IPad

  • I Wanna iTunes 11!!
    by tool
  • Surface needs a thing to be compareable , and that is millions of apps
    by Saeef
  • Personally, I think the iPad Mini is an economical folly. No reason for it in Apple's current structure. They aren't losing customers to the Kindle Fire. Price points make the Mini a huge gamble and deviates from the Apple model which has been so successful.

  • I have several coworkers, friends, other peers that don't know how to work the iPhones (they've owned for years and upgrades) with iTunes. They claim it's not intuitive. This is confusing with the amount of iOS users out there. Will Apple develop a more intuitive iTunes.

  • The mini will solve a lot of size issues that limit educational use. As a parent, the larger size of the iPad isn't practical for my young daughter, but her iPod Touch is really too small for reading and using more complicated apps. An iPad Mini would definitely fill a gap in our family's Apple needs.

  • Guys thanks so much for doing this for all the events. You guys rock! :D

  • Show starts in 30 mins?
    by iDom
  • iDom: Yep, 30 min from showtime.
    by Declan McCullagh
  • @timacheson problem is people will still buy it. I see people all the time with multiple devices to do nothing but check email. Unecessary dependancy, but that is not a purely Apple only thing.
    by Evanalmightyyy
  • I was so close to making a decision about an iPad, do I really need one? Should I get one that will go online using my phone plan or just with wifi? Today I will find out exactly what I am going to do (probably). Thanks, CNET!!

  • Apple Stock is now down -1.26%
    by Duh
  • Duh: That's in line with the broader market, which is also declining today.
    by Declan McCullagh
  • I am intrigued to see what it's going to be. Probably won't be purchasing anything seeing how the iPhone 5 seems to have too many issues. I had trust in Apple at one time but now uhh I dunno.

  • @timacheson @timacheson Unhappy about the Samsung/Apple lawsuit, eh? Too bad
    by jason
  • @Duh That should change in an hour

  • Brian, here's how the math works out with iPad SKUs. There are actually 18 current iPad SKUs, not the 12 that you claimed. 2 Colors, 3 capacities, and 3 wireless versions (Wifi, 4G Verizon, 4G ATT). With the iPad mini, that leaves room for 6 SKUs: 2 colors and 3 capacities. I think it makes perfect sense.

  • All the products need Retina display. Google is coming in strong. The new Nexus 10 should give Apple more competition. I hope Apple's products come down in price.

  • That guy was asking WHY apple didnt release it 2 years ago the ipad mini and see how customers liked it, and then release a ipad mini 2 today. Because Steve Jobs didn't believe it would be worthwhile 2 years ago. That answers his question

  • Wish apple would throw a better graphics card in the MacBook Pro 13", the intel HD's are horrible!
    by Buzz
  • Very excited for today, probably won't be buying, but looking to MacBook Air, especially if there is a refresh today!! iPad's are great, don't get me wrong, I've had a 2. but it cant beat the storage capacity of a bigger SSD like the 128GB Air
    by BluLancer
  • I like the iPad, just not its form factor and have never been tempted into buying one. Galaxy Tab 7.7 looked interesting but was never widely available in the UK. A smaller iPad I would definately be interested in. Gonna be a lot of red faces if all Apple announce is a standard ipad with a redesigned home button.

  • I hope Apple keeps the prices higher than normal, look what happened to Jaguar...who wants to drive a Jag now that anyone can afford one....

  • Hey! Molly Wood! My mom totally dropped her phone in her cereal bowl and I told her to turn it off all the way, dry it with a towel, and put it in a bag of rice. I was so excited to have such a spontaneous torture test! Thank you Molly!

  • We will be able to actually watch the event here live?

  • It's funny that people call iTunes difficult to use. Flashback: people said the same exact negative criticism about Sony's Sonicstage program when it ruled the roost, while saying iTunes was much easier to use in comparison. Now Sony offers drag and drop file transfer with their devices and Apple products mostly require iTunes for file transfers. How things have changed.
    by Christopher MacManus
  • johnnyUK: here's the info on that: news.cnet.com
    by Declan McCullagh
  • Do you think they might release a new version of maps for IOS today?
    by Ben_Foyster
  • How is iCloud "not there"?
    by Jacob Flatter
  • I agree with reader buzz. If they put better graphics in macbook 13, I will buy it without thinking twice. And I doubt they will stay with hd4000, because of the retina display. No point in retina then.
