Second screen experience, while relatively new, continues to be our focus, Khemka says
  • James Martin 1/6/2014 7:22:51 PM
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 7:22:56 PM
We also created a developer program and invited select third parties to build apps for the Hopper, Khemka says
  • James Martin 1/6/2014 7:23:11 PM
  • David Carnoy 1/6/2014 7:23:13 PM
@midwestsatellite: At least you can get a Mini now instead of iPad 2.
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 7:23:14 PM
As we look to the future, we continue to focus on the three key pillars Joe talked about. Affordable, anywhere, easy to use, Khemka says
  • James Martin 1/6/2014 7:23:33 PM
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 7:23:37 PM
10 years ago, customers could record a single show on the DVR. Then DVRs that let them record two shows at once. Then with Hopper, 6 shows at the same time, Khemka says
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 7:24:04 PM
But customers want more recording space and more live TV viewing space. We're enhancing capability of the Hopper by adding two more tuners to the Super Joey, Khemka says. Runs on a Broadcom chipset
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 7:24:17 PM
Processor in the same class as the Hopper with Sling, Khemka says
  • James Martin 1/6/2014 7:24:35 PM
  • David Carnoy 1/6/2014 7:24:37 PM
Super Joey has similar processor to the one in the Hopper -- so pretty powerful.
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 7:24:54 PM
in a home, Hopper and two Joeys, you can replace one of the Joeys with a Super Joey, Khemka says. Get five tuners. So can record 8 shows at once
  • James Martin 1/6/2014 7:25:04 PM
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 7:25:31 PM
Dish anywhere. Auto Hop. We think the Hopper continues to deliver the best DVR at the best cost, Khemka. The Hopper delivers more for less.
  • James Martin 1/6/2014 7:25:59 PM
  • David Carnoy 1/6/2014 7:26:14 PM
The 8-show recording includes PrimeTime Anytime recording, so the number is slightly deceptive.
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 7:26:22 PM
Available anywhere. The Joey already extends the Hopper experience to every room in the home where there's a coax connection. Finding many customers now install TVs above fireplaces or in rooms where no coax connection, like the kitchen. They want a solution with no cables. That's why we're introducing the Wireless Joey, Khemka says
  • James Martin 1/6/2014 7:27:01 PM
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 7:27:19 PM
Customers can now take up to two Wireless Joeys and extend that to the garage, backyard, etc, Khemka says
  • David Carnoy 1/6/2014 7:27:21 PM
Wireless Joey is arguably the most interesting new Joey. Gives you more flexibility in placing your TV. Don't need to plug into coax.
  • James Martin 1/6/2014 7:27:24 PM
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 7:27:34 PM
Can also extend capabilities in home without another device.
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 7:27:51 PM
LG partnership. Can use Dish on smart TV
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 7:28:16 PM
Near identical experience to a wired Joey. Same experience on Sony PS3s and PS4, Khemka says
  • James Martin 1/6/2014 7:28:19 PM
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 7:28:32 PM
Only with Dish and only with Hopper customers get full access to live channels, VOD, etc, on a gaming console
  • James Martin 1/6/2014 7:28:47 PM
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 7:28:52 PM
The Hopper already is ahead of competition when it comes to mobile device access, Khemka says
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 7:29:18 PM
Transfer any DVR recording to a mobile device. Can view offline without needing more additional hardware, Khemka says
  • James Martin 1/6/2014 7:29:22 PM
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 7:29:31 PM
While many customers have iPad and Android tablets, we know more customers are choosing anything.
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 7:29:36 PM
    *something else
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 7:29:40 PM
    Now Dish Anywhere for Kindle
  • David Carnoy 1/6/2014 7:30:00 PM
Dish Anywhere comes to Kindle Fire tablets. Nice.
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 7:30:02 PM
So you can use Dish on the Kindle Fire instead of just Android and iOS
  • James Martin 1/6/2014 7:30:08 PM
  • midwest satellite 1/6/2014 7:30:20 PM
You can only record 6 shows at once during primetime. They forgot to mention that.
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 7:30:32 PM
Customers are overwhelmed. Today we're taking another step toward simplicity and adding recommendations.
  • James Martin 1/6/2014 7:31:01 PM
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 7:31:08 PM
It will also be really easy if customers can just tell the Hopper what they want to watch. Adding voice to the Dish Explorer app, Khemka says
  • James Martin 1/6/2014 7:31:18 PM
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 7:31:42 PM
Can see movies from my guide, from my on-demand, Khemka says
  • David Carnoy 1/6/2014 7:31:47 PM
Dish Explorer gets voice support. Voice of app sounds like Siri -- but isn't.
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 7:31:54 PM
Gives example of "show me movies with Angelina Jolie"
