Greetings from the Google I/O press line! I think I know why they call it "press." We're getting ready to file in...
  • Jessica Dolcourt 5/15/2013 3:21:40 PM
We heard the nerd cry from the floor down below (non-press) shouting their excitement. Rachel King says, "It's like Braveheart."
  • Jessica Dolcourt 5/15/2013 3:30:28 PM
    And we're in!
  • Tony 5/15/2013 3:30:37 PM
I think we will see some huge changes to google maps,
  • Paul Sloan 5/15/2013 3:31:42 PM

  • Vikram 5/15/2013 3:35:36 PM
I would hate it if they brought out a new Nexus. I just got mine!
  • Chintan 5/15/2013 3:36:49 PM
I think they will make new passbok
  • TKash 5/15/2013 3:37:49 PM
Android 4.3...What do you think they would change about android..??
  • seth.rosenblatt 5/15/2013 3:37:51 PM
Good morning! (oh god, was that too perky?)
  • seth.rosenblatt 5/15/2013 3:40:54 PM
    RIckD_99 haven't read it
  • stephen.shankland 5/15/2013 3:42:16 PM

There are more tracks at Google I/O for Chrome matters, but Android gets more attention. Here's one of the signs from the show.

  • ann 5/15/2013 3:42:33 PM
    wanna see NEXUS 5!!!
  • trudat 5/15/2013 3:42:45 PM

  • Paul Sloan 5/15/2013 3:42:59 PM
    @trudat - 2.5 is what's planned
  • seth.rosenblatt 5/15/2013 3:44:08 PM
Officially, the keynote ends at 11:35 am PT
  • Adil 5/15/2013 3:44:45 PM
What's happening at IO right now?
  • stephen.shankland 5/15/2013 3:44:49 PM
Hey guys, Stephen Shankland here, too. Like Seth says, the keynote is supposed to end at 11:35 a.m., but if there's some Google Glass leaping-out-of-a-plane PR stunts it might go over.
  • EPIC-BRIAN 5/15/2013 3:44:53 PM
Yo - Sup Brian Tong (Most EPPPIC GUY IN THE UNIVERSE)
  • Paul Sloan 5/15/2013 3:45:16 PM

Maggie Reardon is on the live blog too!
  • stephen.shankland 5/15/2013 3:46:03 PM
@Adil, it's just the opening keynote now, so about the only thing going on is that people are waiting in line or jockeying for seats at Moscone West. After the keynote ends, the developer sessions begin at 12:45 p.m. It's pretty nerdy stuff: developers.google.com

  • stephen.shankland 5/15/2013 3:46:54 PM
@Trudat: It's a long keynote, but it's only one this year. In Google I/Os past, there was one on each of the first two days.
  • seth.rosenblatt 5/15/2013 3:47:31 PM
As with years past, it was not unlike the scene in Indiana Jones where he saves his hat, but in reverse, followed by the running of the tech nerd bulls.

  • James Martin 5/15/2013 3:48:40 PM
  • James Martin 5/15/2013 3:49:36 PM
  • Marguerite Reardon 5/15/2013 3:50:44 PM
Just for the record I did not roll into the keynote Indiana Jones style. I wish I had though. That would have been a good story to tell.
  • James Martin 5/15/2013 3:51:58 PM

    The CNET team.

  • N.D 5/15/2013 3:51:58 PM
Google should give a killer upgrade offer if there's a new Nexus phone.
  • Tanner 5/15/2013 3:52:02 PM
That would have been cool, Maggie
  • Paul Sloan 5/15/2013 3:52:21 PM

Just to explain the picture James just posted of me in the live blog. I did not have a big breakfast this AM. I am actually 5 months pregnant.
  • stephen.shankland 5/15/2013 3:57:14 PM
Now we have a dancing jiggly colored blob pulsing on the screen up front. It's getting spiky as the music gets louder and the countdown clock descends.
  • Tanner 5/15/2013 3:58:07 PM
I love how Scott has his Google Glass swag on
  • Seth D. Meyers 5/15/2013 3:58:16 PM
I am really desperately hoping for a new Nexus 7. I would absolutely buy one if Google would offer it.
  • James Martin 5/15/2013 3:58:46 PM

Someone is holding up a banner.
