Typically, metal bodies and antennas don't mix. But HTC found a workaround.
OK you've seen it here folks. Phones have officially become jewelry...just like William Gibson predicted.
The phone's design looks clean and sleek...it's a shame that the carriers will plaster their logos on it.
Mike Woodward, HTC's Americas President, on stage now.
Woodward: This is the best phone ever made.
(I'm sure other handset vendors would disagree)
This is HTC's largest rollout ever, he says.
The new HTC One will begin shipping in late March.
@Roger Yes, especially Samsung
In the U.S., AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Best Buy will sell it.
It will come in black or silver (white).
HTC made metal mobiles a big deal (who remembers the HTC Legend?). I wasn't thrilled with last year's plastic efforts, but the company knows its way around a forge. Here's hoping that metal casing doesn't scratch...
HTC customers can turn in their current phone for $100 toward the One.
OK, so no Verizon for the HTC One...they must be getting a special phone for themselves!
Woodward says it's your turn to experience the best phone ever made. He walks off to music.
OK, more hands-on time. Let's go!
The curtains are opening and folks are heading over to check out the phone.
Thanks everyone for watching!
And that's a wrap. Thanks all for tuning in to the live blog.
We'll have more details , pics, and other impressions shortly.
