Hello there! Greetings from sunny Barcelona.

We're about 15 minutes out from the event starting. Thanks for joining us!
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 1:45:59 PM
Huawei is kindly spinning some Portishead to get us in the mood. A very chilled, very funky mood.
  • Jason Jenkins 2/23/2014 1:46:51 PM
Hi everyone and welcome to our Huawei live blog. We have Tim Stevens, Richard Trenholm and Sarah Tew on the spot. What would you like to see the company reveal today?
  • Lucas Baker 2/23/2014 1:47:38 PM
Wonder what Hauwei will announce today. I like their products but they don't feel very premium

Have any questions for us or bold predictions? You can ask here in comments, or you can hit us up on Twitter. I'm @Tim_Stevens. Richard is @rich_trenholm, and Sarah is @saratew. We'll share some of our favorite questions or predictions in here.

Here are the safe bets: some phones and tablets. Huawei did release a teaser video last week talking up multiple devices from each category, so get ready for some of that.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 1:50:02 PM
What else, though? Maybe a watch? Maybe a hat? Some stylish glasses? A lovely pair of shoes?
  • sarahtew 2/23/2014 1:50:19 PM

Tim Stevens gets down to business...

  • sarahtew 2/23/2014 1:50:55 PM
  • Richard Trenholm 2/23/2014 1:51:12 PM
'Make it possible - 4G LTE' is scrolling across the big screen.
  • sarahtew 2/23/2014 1:52:22 PM

    Richard Trenholm ready for action.

  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 1:53:43 PM
Music is getting a little more upbeat now, as we're about 7 minutes out. Sadly, we're at a loss as to what it is, and neither of us have Shazam installed.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 1:54:40 PM
Last journos are starting to file in and take their seats. We're in something of a large hangar space, which is being lit by red and blue lights. There's a nice buzz going amid the crowd here, waiting to see what Huawei has in store for us.

Based on the total dearth of predictions we've received thus far on Twitter we take it none of you are betting people. Either that or you're all still waking up. We don't blame you. It is awful early in many parts of the world.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 1:56:23 PM
Here's my final prediction: a Life without Boundaries in which you can Make it Possible.
  • sarahtew 2/23/2014 1:56:32 PM
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 1:58:03 PM
We're back to the Portishead, by the way.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 1:59:27 PM
    Just a minute to go...
  • Richard Trenholm 2/23/2014 2:00:23 PM
I try and live without boundaries but I find the other people on the bus don't like it.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 2:02:25 PM
...or maybe more than a minute?
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 2:02:51 PM
In a world without boundaries it's totally okay to start a few minutes late.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 2:05:42 PM
Okay, lights down, music too, here we go!
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 2:05:57 PM
Aaaaand the lights just came back up again.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 2:06:09 PM
And here's the music again too.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 2:07:00 PM
You definitely got me excited for a moment there, Huawei.
  • sarahtew 2/23/2014 2:07:15 PM

    All systems go...

  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 2:07:52 PM
Okay, here we go for reals!
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 2:08:08 PM
Intro video running. Really, really loud intro video. Should have brought my earplugs. Definitely should have brought my earplugs.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 2:08:32 PM
"Hello and good afternoon everyone." A woman named Zoe is up on stage.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 2:09:04 PM
She's giving us a rundown of what's to come today, including the "latest and brand new" LTE and 4G devices.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 2:09:36 PM
"Lots to look forward to," she says. But she would, though, wouldn't she?
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 2:10:14 PM
"Let's get the show on the road." She's asking for us to applaud for EVP Colin Giles, who is taking the stage!
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 2:10:25 PM
Okay, time for numbers! We're diving right into the PowerPoint.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 2:10:45 PM
"Our industry is going through a particularly exciting time, though I have to say having been in this industry for many years it has been exciting for many years."
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 2:10:56 PM
"Everything is being connected, and everything is getting smarter and smarter."
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 2:11:10 PM
"It's kind of a situation like it's transform or die."
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 2:11:26 PM
He' s saying that Huawei is very well suited for this "transformation and change."
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 2:11:49 PM
They set a goal for transformation two years ago, which included going from being an ODM manufacturer to become an OEM manufacturer.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 2:12:06 PM
That means -- stop making other peoples' phones, and start making their own. They're now selling 95% of their phones under the Huawei brand.
