  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 2:55:57 PM
The front is an f/2.4 aperture, 22mm wide angle lens.
  • sarahtew 2/23/2014 2:55:58 PM
  • Richard Trenholm 2/23/2014 2:56:17 PM
The word "selfie" has been used a lot in this press conference.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 2:56:24 PM
Now, connectivity talk. "The speed of connection is key. How can we achieve speed?"
  • sarahtew 2/23/2014 2:56:45 PM
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 2:56:53 PM
    It's a 1/8GHz SoC, quad-core, with 28nm technology. There's a Mali450 GPU and LTE Cat4.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 2:57:05 PM
That's 150Mbps, if you're keeping score at home.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 2:58:09 PM
Supports FDD-LTe, TD-LTE, WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, and GSM. So, you should be able to take this just about wherever you like. Support for 16 bands.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 2:58:50 PM
5,000 mAh battery! "Largest battery in class." Someone just started clapping enthusiastically, but nobody else joined in.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 2:58:58 PM
15 hours of video playback. 125 hours of music.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 2:59:47 PM
He's saying "normal usage" will be five days, a half-day better than the iPad mini, about twice that of the Nexus 7.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 3:00:09 PM
You can also do reverse charging. He just said you can use the X1 to charge your smartphone... but I thought the X1 was a smartphone?
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 3:01:01 PM
Yes, there's a built-in earpiece and it has dual mics with noise cancelation. So, yep, you can hold it up to your head and talk into it. Guaranteed to make your head look three hat sizes smaller.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 3:01:22 PM
But, they encourage using a bluetooth headset, apparently. That's how Richard Yu uses it, anyway.
  • Richard Trenholm 2/23/2014 3:01:29 PM
The battery will stream 5 movies. Bad news for your Fast and Furious marathon.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 3:02:17 PM
Richard is now showing that he can put the X1 in his inner jacket pocket. Not an iPad mini that an assistant conveniently had for him in the front row. Fits in a front pants pocket, too. "It's really, really small. More convenient for you."
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 3:02:24 PM
A really, really small 7-inch smartphone.
  • Richard Trenholm 2/23/2014 3:02:50 PM
    Time for that egg-shaped device.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 3:02:56 PM
Okay, that's it for the X1, time to look at the new product: TalkBand.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 3:03:06 PM
He's wearing a blue one on his wrist.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 3:03:25 PM
It's an integrated bluetooth headset and "smartband" unified.
  • Richard Trenholm 2/23/2014 3:03:35 PM
TalkBand. It looks more like a Nike FuelBand than a watch.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 3:03:40 PM
You can pop it out of the wristband, make a call, and then pop it back in to the wrist.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 3:03:50 PM
Perfect accessory for the X1, which can stay nestled in your pocket.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 3:04:01 PM
7 hours of talk time, 2 weeks standby. NFC pairing, and Bluetooth 4.1.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 3:04:13 PM
It also tracks your health and your sleep.
  • Richard Trenholm 2/23/2014 3:04:46 PM
So no touchscreen as such - again, you manage it with an app on your phone.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 3:04:58 PM
It's IP57 water and dust resistant, so go get your shower on, and has a curved 1.4 inch OLED.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 3:05:21 PM
The wrist strap itself is a USB connector, which lets you charge it up easily.
  • Richard Trenholm 2/23/2014 3:05:38 PM
Unlike a FuelBand, it's a flexible strap. So it's easier to plug into a USB port.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 3:05:43 PM
Six colors: which he showed for a half-second. Didn't catch them all. Apologies.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 3:05:48 PM
But, there's a video we can see.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 3:07:02 PM
"We believe that innovating is an adventurous journey. Never cease creating."
  • Richard Trenholm 2/23/2014 3:07:08 PM
Video time! This one's very dramatic! Phones spinning around in what looks like a temple. No hipsters taking selfies here.
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 3:07:48 PM
Pricing time: 399 EUR for the 16GB version of the X1. 99 EUR for the TalkBand B1.
  • Richard Trenholm 2/23/2014 3:07:48 PM
Price? 99 euros for the TalkBand B1.
  • Richard Trenholm 2/23/2014 3:08:22 PM
The TalkBand has a monochrome display showing the time.
  • Richard Trenholm 2/23/2014 3:09:08 PM
We'll take a look at the TalkBand when the press conference wraps up shortly, to bring you photos and hands-on first impressions.
  • sarahtew 2/23/2014 3:09:36 PM
  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 3:09:37 PM
Zoe's back up and we're winding down. We're going to do some Q&A time!
  • Richard Trenholm 2/23/2014 3:09:40 PM
That's the end. Zoe's back, and more excited than ever!
  • Richard Trenholm 2/23/2014 3:10:42 PM
FIrst question. What versions of Android? Some are on 4.4, some are on 4.3.
  • Richard Trenholm 2/23/2014 3:11:20 PM
Does the TalkBand work with the iPhone, Windows Phone or other phones? It will, but not yet.
  • Richard Trenholm 2/23/2014 3:11:53 PM
Does the TalkBand have fitness features? Yes.
  • Jason Jenkins 2/23/2014 3:12:02 PM

A PR shot of the TalkBand

  • Tim Stevens 2/23/2014 3:13:40 PM
Time for the moment we've all been waiting for... apparently.
  • Richard Trenholm 2/23/2014 3:14:07 PM
    And that's it! Hands-on time.
  • Richard Trenholm 2/23/2014 3:14:46 PM
Tim has shot off like a gadget-seeking missile to try out the TalkBand - look out for his first impressions very soon.
  • Richard Trenholm 2/23/2014 3:15:29 PM
With the sound of some VERY LOUD dubstep ringing in our ears, it's time to say goodbye - thanks for reading.
