Microsoft E3 2012 Press Conference

Live coverage of Microsoft's major E3 news

  • Daniel Terdiman 6/4/2012 5:47:27 PM
They have a long history of bringing out music's giants at Xbox E3 pressers. For example, a couple years ago, they had Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. And now Usher. ;-)
  • Scott Stein 6/4/2012 5:47:30 PM
This all brings me back to: Trey and Matt should have delivered the Microsoft keynote.
  • Daniel Terdiman 6/4/2012 5:47:49 PM
    @Scott Seriously.
  • James Martin 6/4/2012 5:47:54 PM
  • Scott Stein 6/4/2012 5:48:12 PM
This is the opportunity for bloggers to catch up on their posts.
  • dan.ackerman 6/4/2012 5:48:34 PM
Was writing a story real quick, but I'm back now... this is pretty cool. Always interesting to see what kind of star power these console companies can pull out.
  • John Falcone 6/4/2012 5:48:41 PM
So, any big "one more thing" announcement still to come?
  • Daniel Terdiman 6/4/2012 5:48:48 PM
    @Scott LOL!
  • dan.ackerman 6/4/2012 5:48:51 PM
MS has Paul and Ringo a couple of years ago for Beatles Rock Band.
  • James Martin 6/4/2012 5:49:25 PM
  • Daniel Terdiman 6/4/2012 5:49:28 PM
Wow...Mattrick back on stage, wrapping up. Nothing on Gears of War. Unless Mattrick quickly puts on a black turtleneck and does "One more thing."
  • Scott Stein 6/4/2012 5:49:49 PM
One more thing: a third screen.
  • Daniel Terdiman 6/4/2012 5:49:52 PM it comes.
  • dan.ackerman 6/4/2012 5:50:02 PM
Does everyone need to have a "one more thing?"
  • Daniel Terdiman 6/4/2012 5:50:04 PM black turtleneck
  • Daniel Terdiman 6/4/2012 5:50:13 PM
    Oh...Call of Duty, not Gears.
  • dan.ackerman 6/4/2012 5:50:19 PM
Black Ops II -- no Dawnguard, sorry.
  • Jeff Bakalar 6/4/2012 5:50:20 PM
Call of Duty begins last year's show, now it closes this year's.
  • James Martin 6/4/2012 5:50:40 PM
  • Jeff Bakalar 6/4/2012 5:51:34 PM
The only real takeaway here is that Black Ops II will have DLC first on Xbox.
  • James Martin 6/4/2012 5:51:38 PM
  • Scott Stein 6/4/2012 5:52:12 PM
I am as unimpressed by big explosions in a video game trailer as I am in a movie trailer.
  • James Martin 6/4/2012 5:52:23 PM
  • Daniel Terdiman 6/4/2012 5:52:37 PM
We were thinking that since this CoD carnage is taking place in LA, they should have had a big plane crash into the Convention Center as a little joke to gamers who attend E3.
  • Chang Lee 6/4/2012 5:52:42 PM
I guess they had to go underwhelming this year so next year will seem amazing.
  • Daniel Terdiman 6/4/2012 5:52:47 PM
But maybe that'd be a little too macabre.
  • dan.ackerman 6/4/2012 5:52:59 PM
Every CoD game needs that "hand reach out trying to hold onto something" scene.
  • Scott Stein 6/4/2012 5:53:39 PM
I keep expecting a demon to rise out of a pit, or some alien beast. #crossovers
  • James Martin 6/4/2012 5:53:40 PM
  • James Martin 6/4/2012 5:54:21 PM
  • Jeff Bakalar 6/4/2012 5:54:35 PM
So Modern Warfare 4 (whenever it arrives) will take place before the events of Black Ops 2? #Confused
  • James Martin 6/4/2012 5:54:59 PM
  • James Martin 6/4/2012 5:55:27 PM
  • dan.ackerman 6/4/2012 5:55:42 PM
Long sniping scenes rarely make for compelling demos.
  • James Martin 6/4/2012 5:56:07 PM
  • Scott Stein 6/4/2012 5:56:43 PM
This footage looks like it takes place somewhere outside our press conference.
  • ChrisF 6/4/2012 5:57:09 PM
So a re-cap: Sequels we already knew about, 3 new games I can't remember the names of, some new Xbox services I will never use, Halo 4, CoD Blops 2. Am I missing anything?
  • James Martin 6/4/2012 5:57:11 PM
  • Daniel Terdiman 6/4/2012 5:57:18 PM
@Scott Well, who knows what downtown LA will look like when we leave the Galen Center.
  • dan.ackerman 6/4/2012 5:57:28 PM
Scott, if you think getting a car from the valet
    was tough before...
  • James Martin 6/4/2012 5:57:57 PM
  • dan.ackerman 6/4/2012 5:57:58 PM
Hmmm... E3 needs some kind of ARG game like this....
  • Daniel Terdiman 6/4/2012 5:58:09 PM
I think this scene must be in reaction to the Lakers getting knocked out of the playoffs.
  • Scott Stein 6/4/2012 5:58:17 PM
    @ChrisF E3 2012: Microsoft buys time with tablet app till E3 2013
  • Scott Stein 6/4/2012 5:58:55 PM
    Call of Duty: E3
  • Jeff Bakalar 6/4/2012 5:59:38 PM
This is definitely the most "sci-fi" Call of Duty yet.
  • James Martin 6/4/2012 6:00:20 PM
  • Jeff Bakalar 6/4/2012 6:01:15 PM
I wish they spent some time talking about multiplayer here.
  • Jeff Bakalar 6/4/2012 6:01:41 PM
That's it. Lights up. See you for Sony!
  • Scott Stein 6/4/2012 6:02:00 PM
all righty. thanks for following! see you later. Trey and Matt rule.
  • James Martin 6/4/2012 6:02:07 PM
  • Daniel Terdiman 6/4/2012 6:02:10 PM
So...Call of Duty Black ops 2: November, 2012
  • dan.ackerman 6/4/2012 6:02:30 PM
Ok, thanks, all -- had fun with the gang as always! See you tonight for Sony!
  • Daniel Terdiman 6/4/2012 6:03:12 PM
And that's it, folks. Thanks for joining us. And thanks to the whole CNET team for great coverage of what, frankly, was a pretty underwhelming Xbox presser. See you tonight for Sony's. Any expectations that it'll be better?
