Evolve looks like a lot of fun. Hooray new things.

Now we have Assassin's Creed Unity, which is set in the 18th century Paris during the French Revolution.

Players will also be able to "form your own brotherhood" and play with up to three other friends in the game.

Assassin's Creed has also become one of those new-every-year franchises. Perhaps not necessary, but they always do an incredible job with recreating historical locations.

Showing a lot of characters on-screen at once. One of those awesome and noticeable
    benefits of next-gen hardware

If you're keeping count, so far
it's been three long-time franchises and one new game.
  • Scott Stein 6/9/2014 4:55:50 PM
It feels like we're just years away from Assassin's Creed in the 1930s.
  • Jeff Bakalar 6/9/2014 4:55:57 PM
Still need to imagine they're getting the multiplatform stuff out of the way first.
  • Scott Stein 6/9/2014 4:56:38 PM
This franchise has evolved massively. It's kind of fascinating to behold. Really good demonstration of how these consoles can strut their stuff.
  • Jeff Bakalar 6/9/2014 4:56:40 PM
Unity looks fun, it's an interesting direction for the Assassin's franchise.
  • Josh Miller 6/9/2014 4:57:01 PM
  • Jeff Bakalar 6/9/2014 4:57:33 PM
Here comes something from BioWare (makers of Mass Effect)

Ah Dragon Age -- another multiplatformer
  • Ian Sherr 6/9/2014 4:59:31 PM
Gameplay for Unity starts by showing friends playing the game alongside. The storyline continues, and the infiltrate a palace. Sweeping views and lots of detail, Ubisoft's teams spend a lot of time making sure these games look nice.
  • Ian Sherr 6/9/2014 4:59:32 PM
The game demo ends with some bad guy being beheaded by a crowd. Crowd cheers
  • Ian Sherr 6/9/2014 4:59:33 PM
Now we have 2K's Evolve, a 4v1 multiplayer shooting game. It's rather interesting--one of the players can be the monster, whose job is to kill all the other players. The other players can be various types of characters, like a medic.
  • Josh Miller 6/9/2014 4:59:51 PM
  • Scott Stein 6/9/2014 5:00:08 PM
This looks like the year (or year and a half) where we finally see what these new consoles can do.
  • Jeff Bakalar 6/9/2014 5:00:47 PM
    Sunset Overdrive takes the stage
  • Josh Miller 6/9/2014 5:01:17 PM
  • Ian Sherr 6/9/2014 5:01:35 PM
Now we start with Sunset Overdrive, a more cartoonish and less brooding game about zombies. Well, "mutants," the game says. Apparently a contaminated energy drink was to blame.
  • Josh Miller 6/9/2014 5:01:56 PM
  • Scott Stein 6/9/2014 5:01:57 PM
Sunset Overdrive: one part Dead Rising, one part Jet Set Radio? Or no?
  • Jeff Bakalar 6/9/2014 5:02:18 PM
This was important to do. Insomniac Games had a problem with this game's messaging.
  • Ian Sherr 6/9/2014 5:02:58 PM
Can you save the city? "Of course you can," the game's character says. It's a video game, after all.

Now time for a demo from Ted Price of Insomniac Games, the developer.
  • Scott Stein 6/9/2014 5:03:44 PM
This make me wish Sega still made games like they used to.
  • Jeff Bakalar 6/9/2014 5:03:53 PM
This is pretty wacky. It's like if Tony Hawk's Pro Skater had a zombie mode. Very over the top.
  • Jeff Bakalar 6/9/2014 5:04:22 PM
There's a tinge of this game "breaking the fourth wall," which I really dig.
  • Scott Stein 6/9/2014 5:04:22 PM
Credit to Microsoft for getting a little weird, but, really, this is a lot of very recognizable genres crazy-glued together.
  • Josh Miller 6/9/2014 5:04:51 PM
  • Scott Stein 6/9/2014 5:04:55 PM
    My favorite game so far.
  • dan.ackerman 6/9/2014 5:05:26 PM
Call me the odd man out on this, but it feels like the ultimate focus group game.
  • Jeff Bakalar 6/9/2014 5:05:29 PM
That brings the exclusive count to 2.
  • Josh Miller 6/9/2014 5:06:21 PM
  • Ian Sherr 6/9/2014 5:06:28 PM
It's very cartoonish and meant to have a light feel. This is what the Zombie genre has come to: brooding and emotional stuff like "The Walking Dead" and "The Last of Us" or stuff on the silly side, like "Sunset Overdrive." Rock music, explosions with the word "Boom" in the cloud, you get the drift.
