Ori and the Blind Forest looks adorable, but in an iPad casual-game-meets-Nintendo type style.
  • Josh Miller 6/9/2014 5:19:54 PM
  • Ian Sherr 6/9/2014 5:20:03 PM
Now for Halo. How do I know? Because the theme song just started.
  • Jeff Bakalar 6/9/2014 5:20:05 PM
That would be the Halo chant now
  • Scott Stein 6/9/2014 5:20:12 PM
I'd like to see one game that doesn't slot into an extremely well-traversed genre path.
  • Josh Miller 6/9/2014 5:20:22 PM
  • dan.ackerman 6/9/2014 5:20:44 PM
Hitting Halo less than 2/3 into the press conference.
  • Scott Stein 6/9/2014 5:20:46 PM
(but, Halo I will make exceptions for. maybe.)
  • dan.ackerman 6/9/2014 5:21:05 PM
Will the new Halo be a reboot of sorts? I feel like the series lost a lot of people with Halo 4.
  • Ian Sherr 6/9/2014 5:21:36 PM
We start with Master Chief on a space ship, attempting to pilot what looks like a bomb to its intended target. There's a big new bad guy who looks mostly
like the bad-guy version of Master Chief.

  • Ian Sherr 6/9/2014 5:22:14 PM
"Your Journey Begins" is the tagline. Now Bonnie Ross, head of 343 Industries, makers of Halo, is on stage. "At the end of Halo 4, Master Chief was mourning the loss of his closest companion."
  • Ian Sherr 6/9/2014 5:22:28 PM
She says now Master Chief will be "questioning authority and searching for the truth."

  • Scott Stein 6/9/2014 5:23:17 PM
    I don't think of "Halo" and "soul-searching"
  • Ian Sherr 6/9/2014 5:23:20 PM
Ross says Halo is a universe of stories about characters. "It's about retelling Chief's legendary tale the way you remember it," she says. So, on Nov 11, 2014, the entire Master Chief Saga will be available on Xbox One. "Halo: The Master Chief Collection" is its name.
  • Josh Miller 6/9/2014 5:23:37 PM
  • Ian Sherr 6/9/2014 5:23:44 PM
She says it's massive: Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 4
  • Ian Sherr 6/9/2014 5:23:47 PM
(So, not ODST or Reach, for those keeping track)
  • dan.ackerman 6/9/2014 5:23:52 PM
Ah, that's interesting -- previous Halo games upgraded for Xbox One. They did that a few years ago for the original Halo game for Xbox 360, and I thought it was well done.
  • Josh Miller 6/9/2014 5:24:08 PM
  • dan.ackerman 6/9/2014 5:24:11 PM
You could swap between the original Xbox and Xbox 360 graphics on the fly.
  • Jeff Bakalar 6/9/2014 5:24:43 PM
You can make a Halo "mixtape" between the 4 Halo games.

  • Jeff Bakalar 6/9/2014 5:25:31 PM
Big applause from "you'll be getting the same experience from exactly 10 years ago."
  • Ian Sherr 6/9/2014 5:25:54 PM
Everything's on one disc, which is a lot of game. But Microsoft says that gamers will be able to replay their favorite parts of the game at any time.

Halo 2 in the game will be an "Anniversary" edition, meaning it gets updated with new visuals on top of the older ones (players can switch back and forth and marvel at what video games looked like 10 years ago). It also has multiplayer just like in the original game from a decade ago.

Demos like this just remind me how terrible I am at multiplayer shooters. I can really only play with other old people like myself with slower reaction times.
  • Scott Stein 6/9/2014 5:27:28 PM
Pretty nice job on this remastering. Great games need this type of treatment. But I suck at shooters too, Dan.
  • dan.ackerman 6/9/2014 5:27:35 PM
Feels like this should be a download-only game.
  • Josh Miller 6/9/2014 5:27:57 PM
  • dan.ackerman 6/9/2014 5:28:19 PM
Is Halo Nightfall the promised Xbox original video program? Do you need to buy this game via disc to watch it?
  • Ian Sherr 6/9/2014 5:28:19 PM
There's also included in the game a live-action series called "Halo NIghtfall," made with Ridley Scott. It's in production ahead of "Halo 5: Guardians." The new game, Halo 5, will enter beta in the fall.

Elysium should never have been made, and he should have made that Halo movie instead.
  • Josh Miller 6/9/2014 5:29:12 PM
  • dan.ackerman 6/9/2014 5:29:34 PM
Hmmm...our only peek at Halo 5 so far has been a very short pre-rendered video clip.

I'd love to see some new features or information on the Xbox One multimedia/video/social/etc side -- which was *heavily* promoted for
    the Xbox One launch.

    PlayDead, the makers of LIMBO
