By the way, this is exactly what the NYC subways looked like in the
  • Jeff Bakalar 6/9/2014 5:49:28 PM
Gameplay is right outside Madison Square Garden. NYC always gets destroyed :(
  • dan.ackerman 6/9/2014 5:49:28 PM
Tom Clancy's "The Last of Us?"
  • Ian Sherr 6/9/2014 5:49:47 PM
The post-apocalytpic action shooting game happens in third-person view and has all the hallmarks of a game with tons of visual detail. It definitely invokes "The Last of Us" with lots of story telling through the quiet parts of the game as you're walking around surveying all the destruction.
  • Scott Stein 6/9/2014 5:49:52 PM
It's a pretty good depiction of NYC from this past winter.
  • Josh Miller 6/9/2014 5:50:01 PM
  • Ian Sherr 6/9/2014 5:50:27 PM
Now we're into an encounter with bad guys. Lots of shooting, explosions all the sudden. Isn't this post-apocalyptic? Where's all the ammo coming from?
  • Josh Miller 6/9/2014 5:50:39 PM
  • Scott Stein 6/9/2014 5:51:02 PM
    I think it's pre post-apocalyptic, Ian
  • dan.ackerman 6/9/2014 5:51:39 PM
Despite the fact this multiplayer patter sounds scripted, I've always liked Tom Clancy games -- good mix of action and tactics.
  • Scott Stein 6/9/2014 5:51:42 PM
All these genres are blending. Would not be surprised to run into a character from any one of them in any one of the others.
  • Josh Miller 6/9/2014 5:51:43 PM

  • Scott Stein 6/9/2014 5:52:47 PM
I love Platinum Games. Here comes the weirdness.
  • Josh Miller 6/9/2014 5:53:10 PM
  • Jeff Bakalar 6/9/2014 5:53:18 PM
    PlatinumGames makes Bayonetta.
  • Scott Stein 6/9/2014 5:53:38 PM
Kaiju brought to you by Beats
  • Ian Sherr 6/9/2014 5:54:12 PM
Now for Platinum Games, which is showing off its latest game: we see someone running through a jungle, and then running into a bunch of dragons. Seems as though it's called "Scalebound," and there's definitely a bunch of monsters. Comes from Microsoft Studios.
  • Jeff Bakalar 6/9/2014 5:55:02 PM
Looks like we're getting another Crackdown game

  • Scott Stein 6/9/2014 5:56:39 PM
Crackdown? Well, hello, old friend. Seems perfect for this era of hyper-online sandbox gaming. Neon mega-vibe.
  • Josh Miller 6/9/2014 5:57:20 PM
  • Ian Sherr 6/9/2014 5:57:29 PM
Now we have a shooting game trailer (not gameplay, it doesn't seem), and it's honestly hard to tell what's going on. Two guys, one of them driving a truck with a lot of explosives, the other with a sniper rifle. Looks like they want to destroy this building, which they succeed in doing. The man inside was apparently a gang leader, don't worry. Game is called "Crackdown."
  • Josh Miller 6/9/2014 5:57:42 PM
  • Scott Stein 6/9/2014 5:58:09 PM
It's fair to ask now: what Xbox properties have *not* been represented so far?
  • Josh Miller 6/9/2014 5:58:16 PM
  • dan.ackerman 6/9/2014 5:58:36 PM
Sounds like we're wrapping up now. Is Crackdown really the big closer for this event?
  • Scott Stein 6/9/2014 5:58:45 PM
    No Kameo sequel.
  • Ian Sherr 6/9/2014 5:58:58 PM
Today, we've seen 90 minutes of games, and Microsoft's commitment to making the Xbox the best place to play games, Spencer says. "We will continue to invest in bringing new creators to Xbox One." Spencer says his team will continue working on Xbox Live, and bringing hot games to the platform.
  • Josh Miller 6/9/2014 5:59:00 PM
  • dan.ackerman 6/9/2014 5:59:09 PM
Unusual to not really talk about the Xbox One hardware at all, so soon after its launch.
  • Josh Miller 6/9/2014 5:59:29 PM
  • Jeff Bakalar 6/9/2014 5:59:38 PM
Very little exclusive gameplay here at their show
. Just a bunch of teaser trailers.
  • Scott Stein 6/9/2014 5:59:49 PM
NO talk about Xbox One as media box. Not. A. Word.
  • Ian Sherr 6/9/2014 5:59:59 PM
Now for a summary video of all the games we just saw. Wrapping up. So what did we see? Well, the Halo rumors were all true.
  • dan.ackerman 6/9/2014 6:00:00 PM
Or the long-promised Xbox original video programming, new multimedia features, etc. Kinect also got left out in the cold.
  • Josh Miller 6/9/2014 6:00:34 PM
  • Scott Stein 6/9/2014 6:00:38 PM
Xbox One: "We're a game console. Forget what we said last year."
  • Jeff Bakalar 6/9/2014 6:00:47 PM
Now the question is whether or not getting DLC first is compelling enough.
  • Ian Sherr 6/9/2014 6:00:54 PM
Indeed, Dan and Scott, nothing about new intiiatives. This was entirely about games. Oh, and they just reminded us, we didn't see "Quantum Break" or any of the other hyped games from last year.
  • Josh Miller 6/9/2014 6:01:24 PM
  • Scott Stein 6/9/2014 6:01:24 PM
That's right. No Quantum Break. Sad.
  • dan.ackerman 6/9/2014 6:01:32 PM
Anything strike you guys as particularly interesting? The last Tomb Raider game was excellent, so I'd like to see more of that. Also Evolve and The Division. But little to stir much excitement.
  • Ian Sherr 6/9/2014 6:02:26 PM
My wrist band continues to light up various colors.
  • Scott Stein 6/9/2014 6:02:35 PM
I loved the splatter of ID @ Xbox games, but how many of those will be on other consoles, even other non-consoles? Many, many, many. I liked Sunset Overdrive, I like the Capcom DLC. And Tomb Raider.
  • dan.ackerman 6/9/2014 6:02:41 PM
Ok, people are filing out, still wearing their glowing wristbands. Thanks for joining us, be sure to come back at 6pm PT for the Sony press conference.
  • Scott Stein 6/9/2014 6:03:08 PM
My band glowed at least five colors. Right now it's injecting something into me. I'm transforming.
  • dan.ackerman 6/9/2014 6:03:15 PM
    Which will be here:
  • Scott Stein 6/9/2014 6:04:22 PM
Thanks, everyone. See you later, at Sony and elsewhere!
