    OK, that's a wrap here.
  • John Falcone 8/20/2014 1:49:40 PM
    That was a quick one
  • Ben Fox Rubin 8/20/2014 1:49:47 PM
    Huseby just left the stage.
  • John Falcone 8/20/2014 1:49:48 PM
Any questions, before we sign off?
  • Maureen 8/20/2014 1:49:56 PM
What is the size of the device loks like large cell phone.
  • John Falcone 8/20/2014 1:50:10 PM
    It's a 7-inch screen
  • John Falcone 8/20/2014 1:50:21 PM
Read our full hands-on first take, linked above
  • John Falcone 8/20/2014 1:50:27 PM

What are the differences between this and the nook HDPlus
  • John Falcone 8/20/2014 1:51:18 PM
Smaller screen than the 8.9-inch HD plus, but -- since it's two years newer -- I'm sure this one will be faster, and it also has the latest Android OS, 4.4 Kitkat
  • Steve 8/20/2014 1:51:21 PM
    Is it running Android?
  • John Falcone 8/20/2014 1:51:30 PM
    Yep, Android 4.4 Kitkat
  • Andrew Probert 8/20/2014 1:51:31 PM
I've heard there is, or will be, a 10-inch model - true?
  • John Falcone 8/20/2014 1:52:11 PM
Only the 7-incher was announced at this time. However, since Samsung has a 10-inch model in the same line, I'm sure B&N could adopt that one too, if this is successful.
  • dimi 8/20/2014 1:52:15 PM
Does it allow for expandable memory as the nookHD?
  • John Falcone 8/20/2014 1:52:25 PM
YES, it has a microSD expansion slot
  • John Falcone 8/20/2014 1:53:05 PM
    Link fixed:
  • Mike 8/20/2014 1:53:23 PM
Price wise I was looking at a Galaxy 3 tab, but specs wise do you think this would be a better buy? Is it considered a full android tablet?
  • John Falcone 8/20/2014 1:53:49 PM
So, to be clear -- this is the EXACT same hardware as the Galaxy Tab 4 7-inch, but with a different B&N interface
  • John Falcone 8/20/2014 1:54:28 PM
You can buy both for $179, but B&N is bundling a decent amount of free content with this product (3 ebooks, 3 TV episodes, magazine trials, $5 media credit)
  • Nathanael Joshua Balete 8/20/2014 1:54:40 PM
Is the android version stock? or w/ TouchWiz?
  • John Falcone 8/20/2014 1:55:06 PM
Not stock, not TouchWiz -- custom B&N skin, but with full access to Google Play store
  • EDGAR 8/20/2014 1:55:16 PM
does it have a IR blastr like the table and gs4/gs5?
  • John Falcone 8/20/2014 1:56:30 PM
Based on Samsung spec page, apparently yes on IR blaster.
  • John Falcone 8/20/2014 1:56:39 PM
We'll verify in our review, later this week
  • John Falcone 8/20/2014 1:57:26 PM
1.2 GHz Quad-Core processor. We'll benchmark vs the older Nook tablets, but -- again -- this is 18-24 months newer than those, so expect better performance
  • Sam 8/20/2014 1:57:32 PM
Could most of the same features be achieved by putting a Nook app on a regular Samsung Galaxy Tab 4? Would there be any notable advantages to doing that instead?
  • John Falcone 8/20/2014 1:58:04 PM
That will be the primary question. The apps will be the same, but B&N is touting a more "reader friendly" interface
  • John Falcone 8/20/2014 2:00:32 PM
The good thing is that you can check this out in person at any Barnes & Noble,
  • Sam 8/20/2014 2:02:28 PM
Is it likely that the original Nook HD tablet will decrease in price soon, or do you think will they try to sell off the remaining stock at the same $129 price?
  • John Falcone 8/20/2014 2:03:10 PM
The original tablet was already deeply discounted -- I'll ask to see if they'll be blowing them out
  • John Falcone 8/20/2014 2:03:19 PM
I think that about does it here --
  • John Falcone 8/20/2014 2:03:41 PM
we'll try to answer any other questions when we review the product, which should be happening in the next few days
  • John Falcone 8/20/2014 2:10:15 PM
    Thanks for joining us, everyone.
