Now just showing us around this dilapidated subway station.
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 4:53:22 AM
    To show lighting, graphics quality
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 4:54:12 AM
These little tiny details are what increases the production value of games, Huang says
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 4:54:24 AM
So many things, attention to detail that they don't have to do, Huang says. But they want to do
  • James Martin 1/6/2014 4:54:33 AM
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 4:55:06 AM
On to another demo. A game that's kind of a cartoon. We're looking at a living room with a couch, table, chair, light, rug, etc.

Now that apartment has been changed to look more alive. Physically based rendering is used, Huang says

  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 4:56:29 AM
The second technology is global illumination. Everything is a light source, light is bouncing around the environment, Huang says
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 4:56:37 AM
You're seeing soft shadows everywhere, Huang says
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 4:56:54 AM
The room is another example of Unreal Engine 4
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 4:57:01 AM
And now we're seeing an Unreal Engine game demo.
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 4:57:08 AM
Game that runs on a high-end PC or game console today

  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 4:58:00 AM
Looks like we're in a desert/pyramid location. You can switch between different characters such as wizards, etc.
  • James Martin 1/6/2014 4:58:54 AM
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 4:59:03 AM
Player has to figure out puzzles, such as how to aim a laser at a door to open it.
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 4:59:38 AM
Tegra K1. Unreal Engine 4. Next-generation graphics on a mobile device for the very first time, Huang says
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 5:00:47 AM
If we compare Tegra K1 to a couple other well known systems, PS3 and Xbox 360, the consoles are based on last gen graphics. Tegra GPU and CPU has much higher horsepower than chips in those consoles. And runs at 5W

  • James Martin 1/6/2014 5:01:19 AM
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 5:01:32 AM
If you were to compare Tegra K1 to another platform, Apple A7. TK1 is almost 3 times the platform on a benchmark running last gen computer graphics capability, Huang says
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 5:01:46 AM
When consider current gen graphics tech, we're so ahead at this point, Huang says
  • James Martin 1/6/2014 5:02:03 AM
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 5:02:25 AM
I really would like to focus on one surprise. Tegra K1 is the world's first 192 core processor. But I have one surprise for you.
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 5:02:37 AM
Tegra K1 comes in two versions. One is quad core A15. Anoither version is based on our Denver CPU.
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 5:02:52 AM
I've been talking to you about Denver for some time. It's a full custom CPU. Based on ARM's V8 64 bit.
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 5:03:05 AM
Designed to be very high performance, single threaded
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 5:03:11 AM
Tegra K1 will also come with dual-core Denver
  • James Martin 1/6/2014 5:03:14 AM
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 5:03:40 AM
NOTE - This is earlier than Nvidia said Denver would come.
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 5:04:12 AM
Huang says Tegra K1 with Denver has been back a few days. Says, what the heck, let's give it a try. If she falls on her face, trips up while she's introducing herself to you, let's cut her some slack.
  • James Martin 1/6/2014 5:04:15 AM
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 5:04:25 AM
Now we're starting a demo of Tegra K1 with Denver. Android OS running on Tegra K1
  • James Martin 1/6/2014 5:04:46 AM
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 5:05:26 AM
NOTE - Nvidia was one of the first chipmakers to talk about 64 bit processing, which allows the use of more intensive applications and is standard on PCs. Huang announced Denver a few years ago at CES, but Nvidia hasn't had much to say about it since. Now many rivals are coming out with 64 bit. First was Apple with the A7. Qualcomm also has it, etc.
  • James Martin 1/6/2014 5:05:50 AM
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 5:06:14 AM
Not sure when Tegra K1 with Denver dual cores actually comes out.
  • James Martin 1/6/2014 5:06:37 AM
  • Shara Tibken 1/6/2014 5:06:38 AM
The version of Tegra K1 running on a quad-core A15 CPU only runs 32 bit.
