Welcome to the preshow for today's Samsung event from New York City.
We've got several CNETers lining up at Radio City Music Hall. They'll be reporting in shortly.
In the meantime, we hope you'll enjoy the live preshow in the video window above from our San Francisco studios.
...and let the handicapping begin
Rest assured, that video feed will toggle over to the event as soon as it starts. (Scheduled for 4pm PT / 7pm ET.)
Been going back and forth with a pen pal regarding the Galaxy 4 rumors - especially the eye-scrolling technology supposedly in there. There was a story out earlier in the week debunking that one. But I still like the chances of it happening..or maybe I'm just hoping. Would be fun.
Note that last year's Samsung superphone, the S3, also had some limited "eye recognition" functionality (the screen wouldn't fade out if you were looking at it). But that sapped the battery life, apparently.
Jelly Bean is the current Android OS. I'm guessing you won't see an update until the Google IO event in May (just a couple of months away).
Don't be surprised if the S4 looks and feels a lot like the Note 2. Probably not as big, though.
Yes, battery life is key. I just came back from SXSW, and the lines for outlets were longer than the lines for sessions and panels.
Battery life is always a concern. That's why the Motorola Droid Maxx and Maxx HD were so distinctive -- they truly offered all-day battery life.
