Samsung is running events in Berlin, New York and Beijing to announce its new mobile products, widely expected to include the Galaxy Note 4.

The battery saving function on the S5 are on the Note 4
  • Jason Jenkins 9/3/2014 1:39:24 PM
    Now microphones
  • Jason Jenkins 9/3/2014 1:39:41 PM
You can record sound in 8 directions, and play them back separately
  • Andrew Hoyle 9/3/2014 1:39:49 PM

More and more smartphones are introducing radical power-saving modes, that shut down your phone's features almost entirely, in a bid to extend battery life. Great idea, and good to see Samsung hasn't stopped working on the concept.

  • Jason Jenkins 9/3/2014 1:40:30 PM
There's better noise cancellation for phone calls too
  • Andrew Hoyle 9/3/2014 1:40:48 PM

    Umm

  • Luke Westaway 9/3/2014 1:40:55 PM
There are a slew of new covers, including a Flip Cover and an LED cover that blinks info through the case.
  • Jason Jenkins 9/3/2014 1:41:03 PM
There's a Swarovski for Samsung case too. Bling bling.
  • Jason Jenkins 9/3/2014 1:41:36 PM
A new Samsung partner: Jens Henning Koch from Montblanc
  • Luke Westaway 9/3/2014 1:41:38 PM
For those who aren't up on pen culture, Montblanc make very fancy, expensive pens.
  • Andrew Hoyle 9/3/2014 1:41:52 PM
  • Luke Westaway 9/3/2014 1:42:15 PM
I hope they're not about to suggest a Montblanc stylus. That would be painful to lose!
  • Andrew Hoyle 9/3/2014 1:42:18 PM
  • Jason Jenkins 9/3/2014 1:42:38 PM
Montblanc Pix and e-StarWalker are being introed
  • Andrew Hoyle 9/3/2014 1:42:46 PM
  • Luke Westaway 9/3/2014 1:42:50 PM
Yep, a Montblanc stylus. It would be good if these are affordable, but I suspect they'll be very pricey.
  • Jason Jenkins 9/3/2014 1:42:54 PM
They are built for e-writing, writing on the screen
  • Jason Jenkins 9/3/2014 1:43:20 PM
You can also use them to write on paper. It sounds like you need to change the nib, although it's a bit vague.
  • Jason Jenkins 9/3/2014 1:43:35 PM
Also a couple of covers: the Extreme and Soft Grain
  • Andrew Hoyle 9/3/2014 1:43:42 PM
  • Luke Westaway 9/3/2014 1:44:26 PM
For those curious, the Note 4 has 3GB of RAM.
  • Jason Jenkins 9/3/2014 1:44:39 PM
    Next, Samsung Galaxy Gifts.
  • Andrew Hoyle 9/3/2014 1:44:50 PM
  • Jason Jenkins 9/3/2014 1:45:24 PM
You get lots of free apps with the Note, including Dropbox space
  • Luke Westaway 9/3/2014 1:45:53 PM
Freebie apps aren't likely to persuade you to buy a phone. But they might add a few pleasant surprises to the process of setting up a phone you've just purchased.
  • Jason Jenkins 9/3/2014 1:45:54 PM
It's going on sale in October
  • Jason Jenkins 9/3/2014 1:46:26 PM
Now another device: The Galaxy Note Edge
  • Andrew Hoyle 9/3/2014 1:46:55 PM
  • Jason Jenkins 9/3/2014 1:47:22 PM
It uses a curved display, clearly going to be the star of today
  • Andrew Hoyle 9/3/2014 1:47:24 PM
  • Luke Westaway 9/3/2014 1:47:31 PM
The Galaxy Note Edge puts app icons along the curved part of the screen. Can't wait to hear exactly how it's going to prove useful.
  • Jason Jenkins 9/3/2014 1:47:53 PM
Edge screen on the side shows something different to what's on the main screen at the front
  • Andrew Hoyle 9/3/2014 1:47:59 PM
  • Andrew Hoyle 9/3/2014 1:48:24 PM
  • Jason Jenkins 9/3/2014 1:48:44 PM
You can access tools on the edge screen with a swipe, like a ruler or a ticker. Yahoo powers the stocks app.
  • Andrew Hoyle 9/3/2014 1:48:46 PM
  • Jason Jenkins 9/3/2014 1:49:01 PM
It can show you how long you have until you wake up.
  • Andrew Hoyle 9/3/2014 1:49:15 PM
  • Luke Westaway 9/3/2014 1:49:19 PM
The curved portion of the display will be functional, rather than purely aesthetic. It's got access to tools, and can be personalised, and shows notifications.
  • Jason Jenkins 9/3/2014 1:49:25 PM
In the camera, the icons can sit there.
  • Luke Westaway 9/3/2014 1:49:30 PM
Samsung is calling the curved portion 'Edge Screen.' I love the idea of keeping video playback buttons on the curved edge while you're watching TV or movies.
