    Hi everyone
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:32:12 AM
Welcome to CNET's Sony E3 press conference liveblog
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:32:31 AM
My colleagues in L.A. will be signing on soon.
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:33:09 AM
In the meantime, we can re-hash the E3 news from earlier today.
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:34:04 AM
Microsoft kicked things off this morning with E3's first press conference
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:35:09 AM
The highlight was the announcement of "SmartGlass," which is an Xbox-friendly streaming app for multiple devices.
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:35:19 AM
    Think "AirPlay for Xbox."

  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:37:50 AM
Kinect played a center stage at Microsoft's presser as well
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:38:01 AM
Madden NFL 13 gets 'better with Kinect,' launches Aug. 28
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:38:43 AM
There are also more video channels coming to the 360, as it continues to amp up its non-gaming entertainment chops
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:38:47 AM
Microsoft plans to bring over 35 more content providers to Xbox
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:39:07 AM
And Xbox is finally getting a full-on web browser
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:39:09 AM
Kinect-enhanced Internet Explorer coming to Xbox
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:39:37 AM
Gaming-wise, Halo 4 was probably the biggest news.
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:39:40 AM
Microsoft shows off Halo 4 at E3 in run-up to Nov. 6 launch
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:40:23 AM
So, what do we expect from Sony tonight?
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:41:02 AM
Thankfully, Jeff Bakalar has already previewed that for us
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:41:07 AM
  • simdog 6/5/2012 12:41:12 AM
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:41:17 AM
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:41:42 AM
If Sony is to believed, they (like Microsoft) already said "no next-gen console announcements at E3 2012"
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:42:17 AM
That leaves us with: PS Vita, PS3 enhancements, and a bunch of exclusive games
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:43:01 AM
Like Microsoft, Sony will probably emphasize integration with the wider universe of Sony products (3D TVs, Sony audio/video services, etc.)
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:43:44 AM
There's also been a persistent rumor over the past week that there may be some sort of announcement re: cloud gaming -- perhaps a link up with On Live or Gaikai. But that's STRICTLY a rumor for now.

How about PS Move improvements that actually "move" me
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:44:28 AM
Good point. Sony's motion controller, the Move, has really faded compared to the Kinect.
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:45:18 AM
Just a reminder: we'll also be liveblogging (and livestreaming) Nintendo's press conference tomorrow at 12 noon ET / 9am PT
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:47:37 AM
I was a bit surprised that Microsoft didn't announce a price cut for Kinect (still $149). Wonder if we'll see the Vita, PS3, or Move come down in price?
  • Rich Brown 6/5/2012 12:48:36 AM
Evening, all. Just here lurking in the background, keeping tabs.
  • Simon Walters 6/5/2012 12:49:07 AM
We want PS4 News! Take the lead Sony
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:49:39 AM
You're gonna be disappointed if you're looking for PS4 news. Unless Sony has a great headfake on deck.
  • Scott Stein 6/5/2012 12:49:52 AM
Hey! Logged on from my phone because Wi-Fi is terrible in here. This is Scott Stein.
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:51:01 AM
    Uh-oh. Bad wi-fi = bad news.
  • Scott Stein 6/5/2012 12:51:28 AM
Tonight is a night where the Vita needs a big second dose of relevancy. Second Wave of Games, and new features/apps. It will be the PS3's second screen.
  • Scott Stein 6/5/2012 12:51:45 AM
    It needs to be.
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:52:53 AM
    How's the mood there, Scott?
  • Scott Stein 6/5/2012 12:53:51 AM
A lot like last year. Blue-shirted staff lined up playing what appear to be released games.
  • Scott Stein 6/5/2012 12:54:09 AM
    MLB The Show, Sorcery, etc.
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:54:24 AM
The video stream should be working now, BTW. Be sure to hit "play."
  • Scott Stein 6/5/2012 12:54:26 AM
The mood is largely, "why does the Wi-Fi suck?"
  • Alex Lisyak 6/5/2012 12:54:34 AM
Will you be posting images taken at the conference?
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:54:56 AM
IF we can resolve our connectivity issues, we'll be posting photos. But the video should work in the meantime.
  • Scott Stein 6/5/2012 12:55:00 AM
Outside, a ton of local food trucks entertained the crowds until the mad dash inside
  • john.falcone 6/5/2012 12:56:03 AM
Nice to see it's sunny in L.A. Whenever I went to E3 back in the day, it always seemed to be overcast.
