New effort called "Project Catalyst" -- used to create News, stocks, voice memos, home.

Federighi says over 100 million active Mac users out there. So a lot of audience.

And apps development tools work with the doc, multiple windows, etc.

"One development team, for the first time, can create a single app that spans from the iPhone, to the iPad to the Mac."

Apple AR Kit plus Minecraft is really an Apple/Microsoft collab, right?
  • Ian Sherr 6/3/2019 7:02:21 PM
Now into the weeds: AR tech has a new feature called "RealityKit" -- photorealistic rendering, animation, physics and it works with Apple's Swift programming software.

There's also a "Reality Composer" -- where you can create AR experiences on the Mac, iPad and iPhone.

One big change is something called "People Occlusion" -- which allows people to step in front of an AR item and hide it. Essentially making it work super real.

ARKit also has motion tracking built in -- just point your camera at someone and it can track them.

For those not in the know, Minecraft Earth is Microsoft's answer to Pokemon Go. But it's got several world-building features (true to the game's feeling of course).

  • Scott Stein 6/3/2019 7:05:48 PM
Oh my god, you can enter Minecraft Earth and put yourself in with People Occlusion. This is crazy.
