Cook: Now, let's talk about Apple Watch. Apple Watch is the #1 watch in the world...

Now he's talking about Apple Watch features.

Today, we're going to take another leap forward with WatchOS.
  • Scott Stein 6/3/2019 5:12:54 PM

I was an Apple Watch holdout for a long time -- just always into good old-fashioned analog watches. But, I got one for my birthday a couple of months ago, and man, it's fantastic.
  • Scott Stein 6/3/2019 5:13:16 PM
    Watch faces...hmm...

Now, Kevin Lynch coming to stage.

Starting with Watch Faces -- going to have a bunch of new ones. He says most new ones since the first.

New watch faces... gradient face, digital face, California Dial, and a cool Solar face w 24-hour sun path. I like that one.
  • dan.ackerman 6/3/2019 5:14:17 PM
I probably only use a small handful of features, but they're all killer. Getting and receiving Slacks, SMS, Google chats, etc. But I also have no motivation to dive deeper, unless someone leads me by hand -- curating the experience.
  • James Martin 6/3/2019 5:14:33 PM
  • Ian Sherr 6/3/2019 5:15:00 PM
Lynch now talking about taptic chimes, where you'll hear a sound at the hour.
  • Ian Sherr 6/3/2019 5:15:32 PM
Lynch also says voice memos, calculator and Audiobooks coming. And a Tip calculator and split-the-bill feature.
  • dan.ackerman 6/3/2019 5:15:39 PM
Just the fact that they call part of the experience "complications" explains why many Watch users don't dive past the surface.
  • James Martin 6/3/2019 5:15:46 PM
  • Ian Sherr 6/3/2019 5:16:00 PM
Lynch: Now we're making it possible to run an independent app on the watch, no need for an iPhone app.
  • Scott Stein 6/3/2019 5:16:01 PM
Audiobooks, voice memo, calculator w tips coming from Apple. Nice. Standalone app buildout promising.
  • Scott Stein 6/3/2019 5:16:19 PM
Streaming audio now unleashed to third party apps. At last.
  • Scott Stein 6/3/2019 5:16:39 PM
Apple Watch App Store is indeed on watch. Can browse new apps.
  • James Martin 6/3/2019 5:16:42 PM
  • Ian Sherr 6/3/2019 5:17:01 PM
Lynch says the App Store is coming to Apple Watch too. There will be apps curated by the app store team or search through. Of course you can ask Siri for help. And you can purchase and install apps on your watch too.
  • Scott Stein 6/3/2019 5:17:10 PM
This is like what Wear OS has, and WatchOS should have had.

Activity app now getting Activity Trends - compares progress over last 90 days. Exercise, stand, Move, walking pace, cardio fitness level
  • James Martin 6/3/2019 5:18:52 PM
  • Ian Sherr 6/3/2019 5:19:05 PM
WatchOS 6 will also now have activity trends -- comparing your progress over the last 90 days vs last 365. If you're trending up, great. If you're trending down, it'll recommend stuff like climbing more stairs or running a faster pace.
  • Scott Stein 6/3/2019 5:19:07 PM
New trends promise more motivation. We shall see!
