Sign In with Apple sounds interesting -- I steadfastly refuse to sign into any third party apps with FB, Google, etc.

Next: Logins. Federighi says Facebook and Google logins can be used to track you. Now have an answer called Sign in with Apple. "Fast, easy sign in. Without tracking." You get authenticated with your device, and you're logged in with a new account without revealing personal location.

Some apps may ask for your email, so Apple will have an option to create a random address that forwards to your real email.

Each app gets a unique random address, and you can disable them if you ever get annoyed.

"This experience is meant to let you have control over your data," he says.

A new “sign in with Apple” button is so smart. perfect way to sidetrack infinite logins. generate unique email address instead of real one

These private email addresses are an interesting if complicated solution to a major issue. But it just feels like a band aid to me. We really need to change the expectations these app devs have and what they ask for.

Now, HomeKit: Federighi says it was developed to protect your privacy and security. "Unfortunately, most home cameras today upload video" to identify a leaf vs. a person.

New way to do this: "HomeKit Secure Video" -- the video is analyzed in your home on your local iPad, Apple TV or HomePod. "And no one, not even Apple, can see it."

Apple will give 10 days of storage in iCloud as part of this, and it won't count against your storage totals.
  • Scott Stein 6/3/2019 5:44:48 PM
HomeKit Secure Video - video pops up, encrypted. 10 day recording. This is interesting too.

Also, bringing HomeKit to routers -- will automatically firewall off each accessory. The first ones are coming from Linksys, Eero and Charter/Spectrum.

Next: Messages. With iOS 13, you and the people you message with, will share your name and photo -- only shared when you message with someone. "You're completely in control of who sees your name and your picture," Federighi says.
  • James Martin 6/3/2019 5:46:10 PM
  • Scott Stein 6/3/2019 5:46:12 PM
Messages: now can share name and photo or Animoji.

Memoji will now have accessories and eye shadow, hair, and many more different options. Hats and glasses. And of course you can add AirPods.
  • Scott Stein 6/3/2019 5:47:40 PM

Federighi: "So, I think that's given us a great deal to think about." (Gets a laugh)
  • James Martin 6/3/2019 5:48:17 PM

  • Ian Sherr 6/3/2019 5:49:02 PM
Now, you can have memoji stickers -- sticker pack for each of your Memoji that basically uses popular emoji as your memoji. They work in Messages, but also in WeChat and more devices. Any device with an A9 chip or later will work with them.
