66 of top 100 universities, 5 million businesses use Google Apps. (Most of those are for Gmail is my guess. Universities get it for free, though.

The videoconferencing demo video -- Google+ sales pitch -- accurately reflects the fact that people haven't really grasped that they can do this pretty easily now.

"We brought many of the best features of Drive to mobile"
  • stephen.shankland 6/28/2012 5:31:19 PM
Google Drive has been really badly integrated on Chrome OS. Separate file system from what's built in, and you can't drag and drop. So this is a big deal for Chrome OS usability.

Cool. Using OCR to pull text out of a registered mail receipt, add it to database, and make it searchable.
  • stephen.shankland 6/28/2012 5:32:18 PM
A great thing about Google Drive is that it scans images and PDF images to convert text and index it. I'm a big fan of this feature. So now we have a couple demos. "Photos of us at the pyramids."
  • James Martin 6/28/2012 5:32:39 PM
  • stephen.shankland 6/28/2012 5:32:39 PM
That's Google Goggles technology, which can recognize some iconic sights like pyramids, Eiffel Tower, etc.
  • seth.rosenblatt 6/28/2012 5:32:56 PM
Whoa. Just showed a text search for pyramids to pull up a unlabeled image of a pryamid in Drive.
  • seth.rosenblatt 6/28/2012 5:33:10 PM
    Unlabeled, untagged, no metadata

Now talking Drive on Chrome OS
  • stephen.shankland 6/28/2012 5:33:52 PM
One little Google Drive tidbit I figured out a few weeks ago for the nerds on the line: Chrome OS uses Native Client for its document viewers, which let you look at Microsoft Office files even when you're offline.
