It automatically adds filters, music, and transitions for a highlight video. It's pretty nifty.
  • Brian Bennett 2/19/2013 3:40:06 PM
Watching a highlight reel made automatically....looks kind cool....not cheesy at all. Honest.

BlackBerry launched its own Story Maker app that does something similar, but you have to manually edit and create the videos.

HTC says you can create the tone by selecting different themes. You can change things around by hitting remix.

Built-in image editing was one of the few features I liked with BlackBerry's Z10. Will be very interesting to see how comprehensive HTC's Zoe offering proves to be.

Becker says he uses the camera knowing there's a story the phone will create for him.

Becker talking about the photo editor. You can scroll through Zoe to find best shot.
  • Roger Cheng 2/19/2013 3:41:29 PM
Now on to the actual design of the One.
  • Brian Bennett 2/19/2013 3:41:38 PM
Yeah, I do dig the way it's supposed to build reels in background. If it works well it could be a sweet feature.
  • Roger Cheng 2/19/2013 3:41:39 PM
Becker says HTC has always been "bold."
  • Roger Cheng 2/19/2013 3:42:02 PM
The HTC One has a true purity of design, he says.
  • Roger Cheng 2/19/2013 3:42:08 PM
    Gotta love those tech buzzwords!

Oh yeah, an all metal design. I can so dig that.
  • Roger Cheng 2/19/2013 3:42:40 PM
HTC One has an all aluminum design...the antenna is built into the aluminum body.
  • sarahtew 2/19/2013 3:43:12 PM
  • Roger Cheng 2/19/2013 3:43:18 PM
I talked to HTC about this, and apparently they aren't concerned that this will result in reception issues. They don't foresee an "antennagate"-type situation like the iPhone 4.

Whoa, a nano matrix structure? What's that then?

Roger's in-depth story on the all-metal design: HTC One aims to make good first impression with all-metal body
  • Roger Cheng 2/19/2013 3:44:04 PM
HTC touts it as "zero-gap construction."

  • Roger Cheng 2/19/2013 3:44:31 PM
Note, Apple 's iPhone 5 has an aluminum body too, although there are strips of glass on the top and bottom where the antennas go.
  • sarahtew 2/19/2013 3:44:32 PM
  • Roger Cheng 2/19/2013 3:44:48 PM
Typically, metal bodies and antennas don't mix. But HTC found a workaround.
  • Brian Bennett 2/19/2013 3:44:52 PM
OK you've seen it here folks. Phones have officially become jewelry...just like William Gibson predicted.
  • sarahtew 2/19/2013 3:45:20 PM
  • Roger Cheng 2/19/2013 3:45:26 PM
The phone's design looks clean and sleek...it's a shame that the carriers will plaster their logos on it.
  • Roger Cheng 2/19/2013 3:45:36 PM
Mike Woodward, HTC's Americas President, on stage now.
  • Roger Cheng 2/19/2013 3:45:45 PM
Woodward: This is the best phone ever made.
  • Roger Cheng 2/19/2013 3:45:58 PM
(I'm sure other handset vendors would disagree)
  • Roger Cheng 2/19/2013 3:46:05 PM
This is HTC's largest rollout ever, he says.
  • Roger Cheng 2/19/2013 3:46:15 PM
The new HTC One will begin shipping in late March.

In the U.S., AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Best Buy will sell it.
